A chemical plant in Russia’s Tula region was hit by drones for the second time in a fortnight

On the night of 8 June, drones attacked the Azot plant in Novomoskovsk in Russia’s Tula Region. This was reported by Russian telegram channels and confirmed by the governor of the region, Dmitry Milyaev, who said that there was a fire on the plant’s territory after the attack.

He also reported two casualties.

“Azot produces, among other things, ammonium nitrate, used to create explosives; methanol, which is a component of rocket fuel; and argon gas, used in metallurgy.”

This is the second attack on the Azot plant in a fortnight, the previous being on 24 May.

Russia’s Defence Ministry said 61 Ukrainian drones were intercepted overnight. The Russian ministry said they were shot down over the Bryansk, Belgorod, Kaluga, Tula, Orel, Kursk and Moscow regions, as well as over occupied Crimea.
