According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, in the second quarter of 2026, the Australian economy grew by 0.4 per cent compared with the previous three months.
Analysts surveyed by Trading Economics had, on average, expected growth of 0.3 per cent. The country’s GDP has been growing for the nineteenth consecutive quarter. Growth in the first quarter stood at 0.3 per cent, as previously reported.
Government spending rose by 0.6 per cent in April–June, whilst consumer spending increased by 0.4 per cent.
Meanwhile, business investment fell by 0.5 per cent. This was the first decline in a year. In the previous quarter, investment had risen by 6.6 per cent, largely due to a significant increase in investment in data centre equipment.
Exports rose by 0.8 per cent in the last quarter, whilst imports rose by 0.5 per cent.
Australia’s GDP rose by 2.1 per cent in the second quarter compared with the same period last year. Experts had forecast growth of 1.8 per cent. Growth stood at 2.5 per cent in January–March.
