In August, China increased its exports of electric vehicles by 33 per cent compared with the same month last year – to 284,622 thousand units, according to the country’s General Administration of Customs.
Belgium became the largest importer, with shipments to that country rising by 76 per cent to 32,538 thousand vehicles. Next came Australia (+106 per cent, to 22,067 thousand electric vehicles) and Brazil (+353 per cent, to 20,154 thousand). The top ten also includes Thailand, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, South Korea, Germany, Indonesia and Colombia. Exports to European Union countries rose by 31 per cent to 63,825 thousand electric vehicles.
Asia was the main export region, with 108,760 vehicles shipped there (+2.5 per cent). Next came Europe – 94,91 thousand (+33 per cent), Latin America and the Caribbean – 43,74 thousand (+118 per cent), and Oceania – 25,2 thousand (+121 per cent).
China increased its exports by 53 per cent in January–August, to 2.11 million electric vehicles. In particular, deliveries to North America increased fivefold (by 402 per cent) to 34,510 vehicles.
