The American company Ford Motor is recalling 223,472,000 vehicles in the US, whose fuel tanks may be improperly secured or leak, according to a statement on the website of the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
According to the regulator, an incorrectly fitted fuel tank could become detached whilst driving, increasing the risk of an accident, whilst a fuel leak poses a fire risk and could also cause the engine to stall.
The recall campaign applies to F-150 pick-ups manufactured between 2023 and 2027.
Dealers will inspect the vehicles and replace the fuel tank retaining straps where necessary.
