Fox has agreed to acquire Roku for $22 billion

The American media company Fox Corp. has reached an agreement to acquire the streaming platform Roku Inc. for $22 billion, including debt.

As stated in a joint press release, Fox will pay $160 per Roku share, with the deal to be settled in cash and shares. Last Friday, shares closed at $143.66 each.

Upon completion of the deal, Fox shareholders will own 73% of the combined company, with Roku holding 27%.

The merger has been unanimously approved by the boards of directors of both companies.

The Roku platform is used by around 100 million households worldwide. In the first quarter of 2026, the company’s revenue increased by 22% to $1.25 billion, whilst net profit stood at $85.7 million, compared with a loss of $27.4 million in the same period a year earlier. This year, Roku forecasts a profit of $360 million and revenue of $5.535 billion.

Fox shares fell by 8.5% in early trading on Monday, whilst Roku shares rose by 2.7%.
