One of the largest grain market operators in Ukraine, JV Nibulon LLC, has started harvesting late grain crops in Cherkasy and Khmelnytskyy regions, the grain trader’s press service said on Facebook
According to the report, the first in the season-2025 began harvesting late grain crops branch “Chigirin”, which is in Cherkasy region, where they harvest corn on an area of 9500 hectares.
“Despite the difficult weather conditions that prevailed during the growing season, maize in this region formed the harvest at the level of 7 tonnes/ha. The total planned gross maize harvest for the holding is 180 thousand tonnes. The total area under this crop this year reaches 22,577 hectares. As of today the first 2000 hectares have been threshed. 8 combines and 70 grain trucks are involved in work on corn”, – said in the agricultural holding.
In addition, soya harvest has started in Khmelnytskyi and Kamyanets-Podilskyi clusters. The first 500 hectares with a yield of 3.2 tonnes have been threshed. In total, they have 9600 hectares before harvesting. On threshing of this crop 12 combines and 40 grain trucks are working.
Immediately after harvest, Nibulon is tilling the soil for the 2026 crop. Strip-till is a priority, as well as deep loosening.
“Overall, 2025 is proving to be a challenging year for farming. The current weather, in particular the lack of productive precipitation in the central and especially southern regions of Ukraine, has not contributed to the formation of record harvests. Thus, since the beginning of the year in the Chyhirin area only 220 mm of precipitation has been recorded, and it should be noted that a significant part of it was not productive and was not effective to fully meet the needs of corn moisture, especially at critical stages of plant development”, – noted in the agricultural holding.
Nibulon” was able to get a stable harvest in conditions of moisture deficit due to the introduction of a set of resource-saving agro-technologies, in particular, thrifty tillage, early sowing dates, as well as competent selection of maize hybrids from FAO 220-250, which have high drought resistance and quick moisture release at maturity.
SP Nibulon Ltd. was established in 1991. Before the Russian military invasion, the grain trader had 27 transshipment terminals and complexes for receiving agricultural crops, capacity for one-time storage of 2.25 million tonnes of agricultural products, a fleet of 83 vessels (including 23 tugboats), and owned the Nikolaev shipyard.
“Nibulon” before the war cultivated 82 thousand hectares of land in 12 regions of Ukraine and exported agricultural products to more than 70 countries. The grain trader exported the maximum 5.64 million tonnes of agricultural products in 2021 and supplied record volumes to foreign markets in August – 0.7 million tonnes, in the fourth quarter – 1.88 million tonnes and in the second half of the year – 3.71 million tonnes.
The grain trader is now operating at 32% of its capacity, has created a special unit to clear agricultural land and had to move its head office from Mykolaiv to Kiev.
