Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Chinab railway bridge connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country.
It is 1.3 kilometres long. It is located 359 metres above sea level and is the highest railway bridge in the world.
“Chinab railway bridge is not only an exceptional piece of architecture, it will improve connectivity between Jammu and Srinagar,” Modi wrote on social media X.
The Indian prime minister also inaugurated infrastructure projects worth Rs 460 billion ($5.4 billion) in the city of Katra to improve connectivity in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The projects will provide “a boost to spiritual tourism and create earning opportunities,” Modi wrote before inaugurating them.
