In a recent interview, Kit Kellogg, who previously served as the US President’s Special Representative for Ukraine, expressed his view on how Vladimir Putin might bring the conflict in Ukraine to an end. According to him, Moscow could bring the war to an end if Putin were to declare ‘victory’ and order the withdrawal of troops.
Kellogg, who has extensive experience of working with the Ukrainian authorities, maintains that Putin lacks the resources to seize the whole of Ukraine. He notes that the Russian army continues to attack populated areas, but these actions cannot lead to control over the entire country.
The former spokesperson for Donald Trump’s administration also emphasises that Ukraine has no intention of surrendering or ceding its territory. In his view, the Ukrainian forces have proved themselves to be a powerful and well-organised army, capable of defending their country’s independence.
Kellogg calls on Putin to end the war and withdraw his troops back to Russia. He believes that Russia will not be able to win this war, as, in his words, their conception of victory differs from the generally accepted one, and they have not even managed to cross the River Dnieper.
It is interesting to note that Kellogg, who holds his post until January 2026, has frequently visited Kyiv and held talks with Ukrainian leaders, which makes his opinion particularly significant. As the war continues, his words are not only timely but are also sparking lively discussions about possible scenarios for ending the conflict.
