The Kremlin said on 4 May that Chinese leader Xi Jinping will make an official visit to Russia from 7 to 10 May, in particular to take part in events on 9 May. Xi was previously named on a list of leaders who plan to attend the Victory Day parade in Moscow on 9 May.
According to the Kremlin, Xi will discuss with Russian President Vladimir Putin the development of strategic partnership between the two countries, and sign a number of documents. ” The main issues of further development of relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction, as well as topical problems of the international and regional agenda will be discussed,” the report said. The Kremlin is expecting visits of leaders of several countries on 9 May.
Alexander Lukashenko, presidents of Brazil, Cuba, Venezuela, Burkina Faso, leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, Slovakia and Serbia are expected to attend the parade. The Kremlin said on 28 April that Russian President Vladimir Putin had declared a ceasefire during the “days of the 80th anniversary of Victory” – 8, 9 and 10 May.
