The Lithuanian Department of State Security (DSS), whose statement was quoted by Delfi, reported that the State Security Committee of Belarus is increasingly contacting representatives of the Belarusian diaspora in Lithuania, Poland, Georgia and other countries through social networks, offering money, benefits and “guarantees” of unimpeded entry to Belarus in exchange for information about democratic movements.
According to the DGB, Belarusian security services also pressurise and threaten relatives who remain in Belarus.
“Recently, operations against the office of Svetlana Tihanovska aimed at obstructing its activities have become more frequent,” notes DDB.
The Lithuanian secret service urges Belarusians, who have found refuge in Lithuania, not to pester provocative KGB offers and warns of criminal responsibility “for assisting the security and intelligence services of enemy countries.”
