Media: after dispute with Musk, Trump plans to get rid of his Tesla

US President Donald Trump plans to get rid of the Tesla he bought in March, a number of media outlets, notably CNN and AFP, reported, citing a White House official.

According to the official, the red car could be sold or possibly donated.

The red electric car, which costs about $80,000, was still parked on the White House grounds on Friday, reporters said a day after a public spat between Trump and Musk

Tesla shares fell more than 14 per cent on Thursday amid the dispute, losing about $100 billion of the company’s market value, but rebounded in early trading on Friday.

US President Donald Trump said on 5 June that he had a “wonderful” relationship with billionaire Ilon Musk but was now “disappointed” in the businessman.

This is how he responded to journalists’ request to comment on Musk’s statements criticising the document that Trump called the “Big Beautiful Bill” (BBB, Big Beautiful Bill) – it provides for the extension of tax breaks.

Musk then wrote on social network x that without him, Trump would have lost the election.

“Without Me, Trump would have lost the election, Democrats would have controlled the House of Representatives, and Republicans would have lost the Senate. What ingratitude,” Musk wrote in response to Trump’s remarks.

Until the end of May, Ilon Musk ran the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in the administration of US President Donald Trump. The department was created to cut government spending, in particular by firing “inefficient” officials.

After his dismissal, the businessman sharply criticised the bill on tax breaks. Musk said, among other things, that the proposed changes would lead to budget gouging. According to The Wall Street Journal, Trump is “losing patience” and” confused” over Musk’s criticism.
