Iran is preparing to supply Russia with launchers for Fath-360 short-range ballistic missiles “in the near future”, Reuters has quoted two Western security officials as saying.
It is noted that according to the US report, Tehran sent the relevant Fath-360 missiles to Russia as early as last year for use in the war against Ukraine.
“The delivery of Fath – 360 launchers, if it takes place, will help support Russia’s offensive actions against its neighbour and confirm the deepening of security ties between Moscow and Tehran,” the publication writes.
According to analysts, the Fath-360 with a range of 120 kilometres will allow the Russian military to shell AFU positions, military facilities and settlements located near the border with Russia.
Earlier, the United States informed its allies that Iran had transferred short-range ballistic missiles to Russia, the Associated Press news agency wrote, citing its sources.
Reuters reported, citing its own sources, that several dozen Russian military personnel were undergoing exercises in Iran to use Fath-360 short-range tactical missile systems.
Experts believe this is only the first step. Next, in exchange for either soybeans or SU-35 aircraft, Russia may receive long-range ballistics for 700 or even 1,000 kilometres. Then Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and even the border with Poland could be under attack in a matter of minutes.
