Lukoil’s Volgograd oil refinery in southern Russia has temporarily halted oil refining after the Ukrainian attack on 29 May, Reuters has reported, citing two industry sources.
According to them, the AVT-1 crude distillation unit, which provides 40 per cent of the refinery’s capacity, has been shut down. Other units, AVT-6 and AVT-5, have also stopped.
Lukoil did not respond to journalists’ request for comment.
The agency specifies that in 2024 the Volgograd refinery processed 13.5 million metric tonnes of oil, or about 5% of the total volume processed at Russian refineries.
The enterprise, in particular, produced 6 million tonnes of diesel fuel, 1.9 million tonnes of gasoline and 700,000 tonnes of fuel oil.
