Revenue at the Japanese cosmetics giant rose by 6.2 per cent

Japanese cosmetics manufacturer Shiseido more than tripled its net profit for the first half of 2026 – to 29.7 billion yen ($188 million) – compared with 9.5 billion yen for the same period last year, according to its financial statements.

Underlying operating profit rose 1.9-fold to 44.4 billion yen.

Revenue rose by 6.2 per cent to approximately 499 billion yen.

Like-for-like sales fell by 0.2 per cent, specifically by 0.4 per cent in Japan, 0.1 per cent in China, and in the EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) by 1.2 per cent, and in North and South America by 0.9 per cent. Sales in the Asia-Pacific region increased by 2.1 per cent.

Shiseido has confirmed its full-year forecast and continues to expect an operating profit of around 69 billion yen, a net profit of 42 billion yen and revenue of 990 billion yen.

Shiseido’s share price fell by 0.3% at the close of trading on Wednesday. Since the start of the year, it has risen by 43.5%, whilst the Nikkei 225 stock index has gained 31.7%.
