President of the United States Donald Trump said that” the main threat to the country now are domestic political forces”, in particular the Democratic Party. He released the corresponding statement on his social network Truth Social after the events related to the fall of the regime in Iran.
According to Trump, after the disappearance of the external threat from Iran, “the greatest danger to the United States comes from within.” He called his political opponents “radical leftists” and criticised their competence.
“Now, in the wake of Iran’s demise, America’s greatest enemy is the radical leftist, grossly incompetent Democratic Party,” the president wrote.
The statement came amid heightened political rhetoric in the US and following Trump’s harsh remarks on international developments in the Middle East.
Israel and the US have been striking Iran since 28 February. US President Donald Trump has said the aim of the war is to destroy Iran’s military capabilities and prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons. Iran has been striking Israel and countries in the region that co-operate with the US.
