After a Russian UAV violated airspace, the Romanian President convened the Supreme Defence Council

Romanian President Nicusor Dan has called a meeting of the Supreme National Defence Council for Thursday, September 25.

According to the Romanian president’s press service, the meeting will discuss the definition of “targets requiring defence measures against threats specific to unmanned aerial vehicle systems”.

Also, the meeting is to determine the persons who have the right to prescribe or approve the implementation of measures against “aircrafts and air vehicles that unauthorisedly use the national airspace”.

On 13 September, according to Romania’s Ministry of Defence, a Russian drone used by Russian forces to attack Ukraine and which entered Romanian airspace, lingered over the NATO country for 50 minutes before returning back to Ukraine.

The discovery of Russian drone wreckage in Romania has also been repeatedly reported earlier.
