Five people were injured in a knife attack near Amsterdam’s central Dam Square on 27 March, media reported citing local police.
Two of the victims are seriously injured. The suspect was apprehended with the help of a civilian passer-by, police said.
Part of Dam Square was blocked for some time. Amsterdam city council meetings were stopped because of the attack.
According to media reports, the victims include two United States citizens, a man from Poland and a woman from Belgium.
The detained suspect was hospitalised with a leg wound. Police add that the motive for the attack is still unknown.
