“Courageously accepted martyrdom” – Lukashenko on Khamenei

Alexander Lukashenko has expressed condolences to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian over the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

“It is with deep pain and sadness that the Republic of Belarus has learnt the tragic news of the death of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Khamenei as a result of an insidious attack. For decades he served the nation, unwavering in his loyalty to tradition and his responsibility to future generations. His wisdom and foresight were highly recognised and he had a well-deserved authority far beyond the borders of the country,” said Lukashenko.

Earlier, Alexander Lukashenko’s Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin called the assassination of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a result of airstrikes by the U.S. and Israel “a cynical violation of all norms of human morality and international law.”

Israel and the US claimed the death of Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei as a result of Israeli-US strikes.

Tehran confirmed this on 1 March, saying that an interim leadership council would be formed today and would include Iran’s president, the head of the judiciary and a lawyer from the Sentinel Council.
