Drone “presumably Russian-made” crashed on Turkish territory – Interior Ministry

A Russian Orlan-10 type drone has gone down in Kocaeli province in northwestern Turkey, the country’s Interior Ministry said.

“An unmanned aerial vehicle, presumably of Russian manufacture, of the Orlan-10″ type, which is used for reconnaissance and surveillance, was found,” the ministry said.

The drone was found in the Cubuklubulubala neighbourhood in Izmit district. According to Turkish publications, the drone fell in the countryside, locals found it virtually undamaged.

The Interior Ministry is investigating the incident.

Earlier this week, on 15 December, the Turkish military shot down an unidentified drone flying towards Turkish airspace over the Black Sea. An F-16 fighter jet was brought in to intercept the drone.The military determined that the drone was out of control.
