Dronephobia: Munich Airport halted flights again due to drones

Germany’s Munich airport was forced to shut down operations again late in the evening of 3 October for the second time in less than 24 hours after drones were spotted over the airfield.

This led to dozens of flights being diverted or cancelled and delays for more than six thousand passengers, authorities said.

As of the morning of 4 October, the airport said flights were gradually resuming but warned of possible delays.

Before that, Munich airport halted operations due to drones overnight against 3 October.

Authorities have not yet said who may be behind the drone launch.

Aviation in a number of EU countries has suffered repeated chaos in recent weeks due to drone surveillance in airspace, with some authorities blaming Russia. The Kremlin has denied involvement.
