In Germany, Munich airport halted operations on the night of 3 October due to the sighting of unknown drones,
Seventeen flights were cancelled and 15 planes that were supposed to land in Munich were diverted to Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Frankfurt and the Austrian capital Vienna.
Nearly three thousand passengers were unable to fly out of Munich late in the evening of 2 October and the night of 3 October, the airport said in a statement.
The airport reopened at 5:00 local time, with the first airliner to land in Munich after the closure being a long-haul Lufthansa plane from Bangkok at 5:25, according to the airport’s website.
German police are searching the airport’s neighbourhood for those who may have launched the drones.
This is another in a series of incidents involving drones over airports in Europe, with earlier reports coming from Denmark in particular.
