Emirates Airline has signed a contract to buy 65 wide-body aircraft from Boeing Co. with a total catalogue value of $38 billion.
The contract for the 777-9 aircraft was awarded on the first day of the Dubai Airshow. It also calls for the delivery of 130 GE9X engines.
Deliveries will begin in the second quarter of 2027.
Following this deal, Emirates’ total order from Boeing for wide-body aircraft has reached 315 aircraft and 540 engines. Emirates is the world’s largest operator of Boeing 777s.
Meanwhile, Reuters quoted sources as saying that Airbus may get the bulk of its narrowbody orders from flydubai. The sources say flydubai will order about a hundred A321neo aircraft and only a few dozen 737 MAXs.
Boeing shares are up 0.5 per cent in earlier trading on Monday. Airbus shares are up 1.3 per cent in Paris.
