European Union (EU) countries imported more than 5.968 million tonnes of oil from Azerbaijan in January-April 2025, which is 15.7% higher than the figure for the same period last year.
According to the data of the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat), the value of oil supplied from Azerbaijan to the EU countries in the reporting period totalled more than €3.343 billion (up 3.3%).
The top five largest importers were: Italy – 2.342 million tonnes (down 6.4%) worth €1 billion 277.8 million (down 17.9%), Czech Republic – 885,687,000 tonnes (up 4.5%) worth €507.776 million (down 2.9%), Romania – 543,925,000 tonnes (up 1.6 times) worth €507.776 million (down 2.9%), Romania – 543,925,000 tonnes (up 1.6 times) worth €507.776 million (up 1.6 times), and the Czech Republic – 885,687,000 tonnes (up 4.5%) worth €507.776 million (down 2.9%). tonnes (1.6-fold growth), Romania – 543.925 thousand tonnes (1.6-fold growth) for EUR 309.267 million (39.2% growth), Germany – 530.757 thousand tonnes (1.9-fold growth) for EUR 307.03 million (1.8-fold growth), Croatia – 488.178 thousand tonnes (41.7% growth) for EUR 264.409 million (18.1% growth).
Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Portugal, Portugal and Greece also imported Azerbaijani oil in January-April 2025.
As reported, in 2024, EU countries imported from Azerbaijan about 17.272 million tonnes of oil (down 14.9% year-on-year) worth €10.277 billion (down 17.1%).
