A helicopter crashed in Khabarovsk Krai, killing 5 people

The wreckage of an Mi-8 helicopter that went missing on 14 July has been found in Russia’s Khabarovsk region. There were five people on board – three crew members and two technicians.

All, according to preliminary data, were killed.

The wreckage of the helicopter was found about 122 kilometres from Okhotsk, the transport prosecutor’s office said. The agency opened a criminal case under the article on violation of the rules of safety of movement and operation of aircraft.

The helicopter disappeared on 14 July after flying from the village of Okhotsk in Khabarovsk Krai to Magadan. According to TASS, the helicopter was returning to Magadan after repairs. Its search was complicated by bad weather conditions. The causes of the crash are still unknown.
