US President Donald Trump believes that Russian authorities are dragging out negotiations on ending the war with Ukraine – Fox News journalist Jackie Heinrich reported, citing a source familiar with the discussions.
According to Heinrich, Trump is frustrated with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The journalist writes on social network X that the White House is considering tough sanctions that would hit Russia’s shadow fleet.
“I was informed that compliance with the sanctions is now low – unofficially estimated at about “3 out of 10″. And blocking Russian ‘shadow fleet’ activity could be an easy target for pressure,” Heinrich wrote.
About the fact that Trump is not satisfied with the latest statements of the Russian President, as well as the President of Ukraine, was previously told by the White House press secretary without specifying which statements caused dissatisfaction of the American leader.
The US President himself had earlier said that he was “infuriated” by Putin’s words about the illegitimacy of Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky and the need to impose external governance for Ukraine. Trump threatened Russia with a secondary duty on oil exports if Moscow does not agree to a ceasefire soon.
The Russian Foreign Ministry, for its part, said that Moscow takes Washington’s proposals on Ukraine seriously, but cannot accept them “simply as they are.” The deputy head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Ryabkov, noted on 1 April that the US position did not envisage the elimination of “the root causes of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict” and did not call on Kiev to “stop the war”.
