In June, a wave of extreme heat swept across Europe, initially affecting Western Europe before moving eastwards. According to The Guardian, on Sunday more than 191 million people were experiencing temperatures of at least 35°C – extreme heat warnings have been issued in Germany, the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary.
On 28 June, Poland could break the temperature record set in 1921 of 40.2°C. In the Czech Republic, a new temperature record of 40.6°C was recorded on Saturday, 27 June. Meteorologists expect temperatures to exceed 41°C on Sunday.
