US Intel Corp., one of the world’s leading manufacturers of computer components, has agreed to sell 51% in Altera division to Silver Lake investment firm, the seller said in a press release.
The valuation of Altera in the deal is $8.75bn. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2025.
Altera, acquired by Intel in 2015 for $16.7bn, specialises in producing programmable chips that can be customised by users for their tasks.
Intel’s stock price is up 4.2 per cent in early trading on Monday
