The head of Iran’s judiciary has again ordered courts to try detainees “outside of normal procedure” and with greater speed.
In a recently published video, Gholam – Hossein Mohseni Ejei said that cases involving likely collaborators with the “enemy aggressor” should not follow normal procedures.
Ejei said the judiciary is adopting a “wartime stance,” urging officials to return cases the same day and, if necessary, to interrogate suspects in prison to expedite charges.
In Iran, state media report daily on the arrests of alleged spies and traitors, while human rights groups sound the alarm over executions and speedy trials.
There have also been reports of “online trials” taking place in the country and the imminent sentencing.
