Israel launched two strikes on Iran’s underground uranium enrichment plant in Fordow.
Iranian media claim that air defence assets shot down an Israeli drone in the area. Two explosions are reported near the facility.
In addition, agencies report more explosions in Tehran, Tabriz and Qumi.
Earlier, an Israeli attack on Iran’s Natang nuclear facility was reported.
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said it was deeply concerned over this development.
“I have repeatedly stated that nuclear facilities should never be attacked, regardless of the context or circumstances, as this can harm both the population and the environment. Such attacks have serious implications for nuclear safety, security and safeguards, as well as for regional and international peace and security,” the IAEA said in a statement.
Also, the IDF said the Israeli Air Force continued to strike missile installations and infrastructure for UAV launches in Iran.
On the night of 13 June, Israel launched an attack on Iran. Israeli aircraft struck uranium enrichment facilities in Natang and Fordow, missile bases in Kermanshah and Khorremabad, and Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz and other major Iranian cities were also under attack.
Iranian media reported that the Israeli strikes killed, among others, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Hosein Salami, Chief of General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Bagheri and physicist Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video message that Iran’s nuclear programme posed a “clear direct threat to Israel’s survival”. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei promised Israel “severe punishment”.
US President Donald Trump has said he is not concerned about the possibility of a regional war in the Middle East. In a telephone conversation with Reuters, he noted that” everyone knew “about the impending Israeli strikes, adding that he was “trying to save Iran from death.”
Trump noted that a meeting between U.S. representatives and Islamic Republic officials on Sunday, 15 June, remains on schedule. “It’s not too late for Iran to make a deal, but I’m not sure it will happen,” Trump said.
