King Charles III and Queen Camilla have arrived in the US, where they will be on a four-day official visit.
This is the first time Charles is visiting the US as a monarch, the first state visit by any British monarch since 2007.
The trip comes amid a crisis in Anglo-American relations.
As the BBC writes, this trip is really quite risky. Royal history specialist Ed Owens says this state visit to the US comes at a time of “very unusual” political tension and will be a “global event” during which the king will have the opportunity to defend “the values of democracy, freedom and independence”.
Britain-one of Washington’s closest allies-has reacted coolly to the US-Israeli war against Iran. On 1 April, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, addressing the nation about the conflict in the Middle East, declared that “this is not our war” and, “we will not be drawn into the conflict.”
Starmer has faced criticism from US President Donald Trump for not supporting US and Israeli attacks on Iran.
