Kyrgyzstan has called early parliamentary elections

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov has scheduled early parliamentary elections in the country for 30 November 2025.

The Central Commission for Elections and Referendums was instructed to organise the process and apply remote voting in the elections.

On 25 September, the Kyrgyz parliament (Jogorku Kenesh) adopted a draft resolution on self-dissolution, which was initiated by 32 deputies.

The initiators explained this decision by the coincidence of two election campaigns: the next parliamentary elections were to be held in November 2026 and the presidential elections in January 2027.

In their view, holding two elections at the same time could have a negative impact on the stable operation of all branches of government and would require significant material, technical and human resources.

In June 2025, Zhaparov signed amendments to the Law on Elections. According to the document, the country will have 30 multi-member constituencies, each of which will elect three deputies.

The parliament will still have a total of 90 deputies.
