On the night of 13 June, Israel launched an attack on Iran. Israeli aircraft struck uranium enrichment facilities in Natang and Fordow, missile bases in Kermanshah and Khorremabad, and Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz and other major Iranian cities were also under attack, local media reported.
According to media reports, Iran fired four waves of rockets at Israel. According to The Times of Israel, at least two women were killed (in Gush Dan and Petah Tikva).
As of the morning of 14 June, a massive Iranian missile strike in Israel has killed at least three people and injured about 80 others, The Times of Israel reported.
“The (Iranian – ed.) strikes injured about 80 people, including three people who were critically wounded and later died of their wounds. According to the (emergency medical – ed.) Magen David Adom service, several others were critically wounded. The rest suffered minor to moderate injuries or acute stress,” the report said.
The Jerusalem Post reports four dead and more than 70 injured. According to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), which declined to give the exact number of rockets fired by Iran, each of the four overnight waves of fire consisted of dozens of rockets. IDF spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin said most of the rockets were intercepted by air defence systems or fell before reaching Israel.
However, it is noted that a few rockets hit central Israel, with “violent explosions” heard in the Tel Aviv area.
In Tel Aviv and Ramat Gan in particular, homes were damaged and fires broke out. A residential area in the city of Rishon le Tzion, south of Tel Aviv, was also affected.
The head of Iran’s Quir Ahmad Vahidi said three air bases, the Defence Ministry and Israel’s defence industry were targeted. Fox News writes that one of the missiles allegedly hit the Israel Defence Forces General Headquarters in Tel Aviv – a place referred to as Israel’s “Pentagon”.
Iran said the U.S. helped Israel. They say they gave intelligence and weapons to attack Iran. Iran’s Foreign Ministry called further nuclear talks with the US “pointless.”
The Israeli ambassador responded by saying that Iran was preparing for war itself, and the Israeli strikes were self-defence. According to him, Iran is almost able to assemble several nuclear warheads.
Meanwhile, in Iran, the above-ground part of the uranium plant in Natang has been destroyed. According to the IAEA, uranium was enriched there up to 60 per cent. Radioactive contamination was reported inside the nuclear facility in Iran’s Natang after the Israeli attack.
