Meta to buy tens of billions of dollars worth of chips from Nvidia for IS development

Meta announced a new long-term partnership with Nvidia Corp. under which Nvidia will supply Meta with hardware to develop its data centres for artificial intelligence.

Meta intends to purchase millions of Blackwell and Rubin chips, as well as Grace and Vera CPUs, from Nvidia. The company has been using Nvidia chips for years and will now be the first to introduce Grace CPUs into data centres as a standalone product rather than as part of servers.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but experts estimate the deal to be worth tens of billions of dollars.

“The deal is certainly in the tens of billions of dollars,” said Creative Strategies analyst Ben Bajarin, as quoted by CNBC. – “We expect a significant portion of Meta’s capital expenditures to go toward the purchase of Nvidia products.

In January, Meta said it plans to spend up to $135bn on AI infrastructure development in 2026.
