Mobileye plans to launch a robotaxi service in the US in 2027

Mobileye Global Inc., a company specialising in the development of technology for autonomous vehicles, plans to launch its own robotaxi service in the US in 2027, according to a press release from the company.

Initially, the fleet will consist of around 100 vehicles. The service will begin operating next year in one of the major cities, the company said.

Mobileye plans to roll out the robotaxi business in phases over the course of the year to test the operational model under fully autonomous driving conditions. Following the successful operation of the initial fleet, the company plans to significantly expand the business, increasing the number of vehicles to around 17,000 over the next five years.

“This initiative does not replace our existing partnerships,” the company said in a statement.

Last year, the US ride-hailing platform Lyft announced that it would roll out fully autonomous robotaxis in Dallas as early as 2026, using Mobileye technology.

Founded in Israel in 1999, Mobileye specialises in the production of computer vision systems for autonomous vehicles. The company went public in 2014 and was acquired by Intel Corp. in 2017. For $15.3 billion. In October 2023, Mobileye raised $861 million through a share placement on the Nasdaq stock exchange, resulting in the company being valued at $16.7 billion.

As of the end of 2025, Mobileye’s technology was being used in more than 250 million vehicles worldwide.
