Netanyahu said Iran’s intelligence chief and his deputy were killed by Israeli strikes

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a conversation with the American TV channel Fox News reported the death of the head of the intelligence service of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps Mohammad Kazemi and his deputy Hassan Mohakek as a result of Israeli strikes.

According to Iran International, the two military men were trapped under rubble after a strike on the quir intelligence building in Tehran. There are no survivors of the attack.

In addition, according to Reuters sources, at least 14 Iranian nuclear scientists have been killed in Israeli attacks, particularly car bomb explosions.

At the same time, Reuters, citing two unnamed US officials, reports that US President Donald Trump in recent days allegedly vetoed an Israeli plan to assassinate Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

That said, when asked about the matter, Netanyahu told Fox News that there were “a lot of false reports of conversations that never happened” and added that he was not going to “go into details”.

“But I can tell you, I think we’re doing what we need to do, we’re going to do what we need to do. And I think the United States knows what is good for the United States,” Netanyahu said.

Meanwhile, the Israel Defence Forces said on the evening of June 15 that Israeli aircraft struck an Iranian refuelling plane at Mashhad airport in eastern Iran.

The IDF noted that this is the furthest strike the Israeli military has conducted since the start of the military operation against Iran. Mashhad is located some 2,300 kilometres from Israel, near the Turkmen-Afghan border.

Iran’s NourNews news agency reports that there were at least two explosions in Mashhad in the evening, one of which was at the airport and started a fire there.

Israel began airstrikes on Iranian territory on 13 June, attacking nuclear, military and energy facilities. Iran responded with missile and drone strikes against Israel.

According to the latest figures, Israeli attacks in Iran have killed about 140 people, including military officials. In Israel, the Iranian strikes killed 15 people, according to the Health Ministry. The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said five Ukrainian citizens, including three children, were killed in the Israeli city of Bat Yam, according to preliminary data.

US President Donald Trump, who had hoped for the resumption of US-Iranian talks on Tehran’s nuclear programme, called on Israel and Iran to conclude a peace deal. Talks between Iran and the US, which were scheduled for Sunday in Oman, were cancelled after the Israeli strikes.
