Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on 10 May that Iran’s enriched uranium must be “removed” before any peace agreement with Tehran.
“It’s not over because there is still nuclear material – enriched uranium – that needs to be taken out of Iran. There are still enrichment facilities that need to be dismantled,” Netanyahu told CBS.
‘You go in and you take it out,’ he added, noting that US President Donald Trump has a similar position. – I’m not going to talk about military means, but President, what President Trump told me:I want to go in there.
While the statement contradicted Trump’s public stance in which he said he was willing to negotiate a peaceful resolution to the conflict, the US president released a threatening statement on his social media platform later in the day.
“The Iranians” pushed “us, made us wait, killed our people with their bombs, destroyed protests, and recently killed 42,000 innocent, unarmed protesters, and are laughing at our now great country again,” Trump wrote in his Truth Social post.
“They will laugh no more!” – he added.
The issue of Iran’s nuclear ambitions has long been central to resolving the conflict between Iran and the United States. But in its latest peace proposal sent to Tehran earlier this week, Washington reportedly ruled out the issue, postponing talks on it until peace takes effect.
