Norway reduced gas production by 8%

Norway’s natural gas production in May was 9.2 billion cubic metres, down 7.9% from the same month last year, according to preliminary calculations by the Norwegian Offshore Directorate (NOD).

In April, according to the revised data, production was 10.26 billion cubic metres, a month-on-month drop of 10.3%. The NOD had forecast production in May at 9.18 billion cubic metres.

Norway last month increased oil, condensate and NGLW production by 1.4% year-on-year to 1.98 million barrels per day (bpd). Meanwhile, it was down 2.3 per cent from April.

The country’s oil production averaged 1.805 million bpd, up 5.7 per cent from May 2024 but 1.1 per cent lower than April’s volume. NOD had forecast production at 1.787 million b/d.

Norway’s total hydrocarbon production in January-May, according to preliminary data, was about 98.6 million cubic metres of oil equivalent, of which 42.5 million cubic metres came from oil and 51.1 million cubic metres from natural gas. cumulative production was 4.7 million cubic metres of oil equivalent less than the figure for the same period last year, NOD said.
