In Poland, border guards discovered a tunnel, starting on the Belarusian territory and ending 20 metres from the Polish border, said head of the Interior Ministry of Poland Marcin Kierwinski.
“Officers of the Podlaski Border Guard Unit discovered a tunnel under the barrier on the Polish-Belarusian border. The tunnel started from the side of Belarus and ended about 20 metres from the border on the Polish side,” he wrote in social network X.
At the same time, the minister assured that thanks to modern electronic systems, the Polish-Belarusian border is effectively protected.
Poland opened the border with Belarus on 25 September: there are two checkpoints on the Belarusian-Polish border. Only one of them – the Brest checkpoint – accepts passenger transport.
Poland unilaterally completely closed the border with Belarus on 12 September during the Russian-Belarusian military exercises “West-2025,” taking place in Belarus. They ended on 16 September.
