Earthquakes have struck Myanmar, but the shocks have caused significant destruction in the capital of neighbouring Thailand.
The Red Cross says there is no power source in the area, making it difficult to assess the extent of the destruction in the city. Repeated shocks in the next six hours.

Myanmar’s earthquake disintegrates relatively more frequently than Thailand’s. Seismically active areas and almost all earthquakes felt there (and they are rare) originate from neighbouring Myanmar. Since a coup in 2021, the country has been ruled by a military junta that makes access to information difficult. The state controls almost all local radio, television, print and online media.
Internet use is also restricted.
