Putin’s aide has reported on his conversation with Trump

US President Donald Trump spoke to Russia on 14 June

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a conversation with his American counterpart Donald Trump on 14 June, said Putin’s aide Roy Ushakov.

According to the Kremlin press service, Putin congratulated Trump on his 80th birthday. The two sides also discussed the potential for Washington to reach an agreement with Tehran.

Ushakov stated that Trump had allegedly expressed a willingness to ‘influence’ partners in Europe and Kyiv to cease hostilities in Ukraine during the G7 summit in Evian. Putin’s aide stated that strikes on “civilian targets” on Russian territory were hindering the settlement.

He also quoted Putin as saying that “no attempts by the Kyiv regime to strike civilian infrastructure in Russia will change the critical situation for Ukraine on the battlefield”. The Kremlin representative also reiterated the view that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy could travel to Moscow for a meeting with Putin.

According to Ushakov, the parties also agreed that Trump’s representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, would arrive in Russia “in the near future”.

Trump has not yet commented on his conversation with Putin.

It was previously reported that Zelenskyy spoke with Trump on 14 June, following which he confirmed plans to meet with the US president during the G7 summit in France.
