Roscosmos CEO Dmitry Bakanov has arrived in the US city of Houston, Texas, for talks with the leadership of the US space agency NASA, Russian news agencies reported on 29 July, citing the press service of the Russian state corporation.
Bakanov’s talks with NASA’s interim acting administrator Sean Duffy will be the first face-to-face meeting between the heads of the two countries’ space agencies since 2018.
The talks are scheduled for 31 July. They will discuss the continued operation of the International Space Station, the continuation of cross-flight missions and the process of erecting the station from orbit, according to a report by Russia’s Interfax. The Russian delegation’s plans also include visits to the Johnson Space Centre and Boeing’s manufacturing division.
The space programme is one of the few international projects in which the US and Russia continue to cooperate.
