NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said on social network x that he supported the call of a “coalition of the willing” for a 30-day ceasefire.
“Joined the call of more than 20 leaders” of the coalition of the willing “this morning to advance efforts to secure a just and lasting peace for Ukraine. This starts with a 30 – day unconditional ceasefire and must be backed by continued and concrete support,” the NATO Secretary General emphasised.
According to him, today’s meeting showed that “we are committed and continue to support Ukraine”.
Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British and Polish Prime Ministers Keir Starmer and Donald Tusk issued a joint call for Russia to agree to a full and unconditional 30-day ceasefire and pledged increased support for Ukraine.
French President Macron, Polish and British Prime Ministers Donald Tusk and Keir Starmer, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz arrived in Kiev for the “coalition of the willing” meeting on 10 May.
The format brings together the UK, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and Ukraine.
