Senator Graham reacted to Moscow’s statements regarding the announced US sanctions

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who is co-sponsoring a bill for tough new economic sanctions against Russia, reacted to Moscow’s statements regarding the announced new US sanctions.

“Russia, right about sanctions. You managed to avoid them and you have learnt to live with them,” the senator wrote on social network X in response to Russia’s statements that sanctions are not scary for them because they have been living with them for years.

“Apparently you don’t realise that President Trump is changing the rules of the game and is going to impose tariffs on countries that buy your oil and gas while supporting your war machine. Perhaps you should contact these countries soon to see if they have the same frivolous attitude as you do,” he added.

On 28 July, US President Donald Trump said he was “very disappointed” with Putin and would “shorten” his previously announced 50-day deadline by which the Russian leader was expected to agree to peace talks because he believed “he already knows the answer” to his proposals and what will happen.

Trump later said the deadline – 10 days – for Russia begins on 29 July.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded by saying that Russia has been living under a lot of sanctions for quite a long time and its economy is “functioning” and Russia has developed a “certain immunity” to sanctions.
