SkyUp has received its first Airbus A321Neo and is preparing for fleet additions

The fleet of Ukrainian airline SkyUp Airlines has received the first Airbus A321Neo, and the airline will soon receive two more aircraft of this model, MOLDOVAN SPOTTERS reported.

The first Airbus A321Neo (9H-PEA) in SkyUp Airlines’ fleet will be painted in the airline’s colours. The aircraft will receive its livery at Nottingham or Ostrava, it said.

SkyUp has leased the aircraft from its subsidiary PLAY EUROPE in Iceland for a period of two years.

The vessel was assembled in 2018. Propulsion is provided by two CFMI LEAP-1a32 LEAP – 1a32 engines, configuration – (Y214). It will serve scheduled and charter flights from 17 April 2025 on medium and long-haul routes.

According to the report, two more Airbus aircraft will be added to SkyUp’s fleet in the near future.

Now the fleet of SkyUp Airlines and SkyUp Malta, registered in Europe, consists of 11 Boeing family aircraft – 2 Boeing B737-700wl, 6 Boeing B737-800wl registered in Ukraine and 3 Boeing B737-800wl registered in Malta.

As you know, the Ukrainian airline SkyUp Airlines in 2024 increased passenger traffic by 61.6% compared to 2023 – carried 2.5 million passengers. On 18 April 2025, the airline started operating regular flights from Chisinau (Moldova) to the most popular destinations in Ukraine: France, Portugal, Spain, Greece and Cyprus. From June it will start operating flights from Chisinau to Berlin (Germany), Stockholm (Sweden) and Prague (Czech Republic). Also, the airline is developing the direction of “wet leasing”.

Play Europe is a subsidiary of Icelandic low-cost carrier PLAY Airlines, which was founded in 2019 by former WOW air executives. Its base airport is Keflavik, Iceland. The airline has 10 Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft in its fleet. The airline flies to countries in Europe, North America, the United States, Africa, and Asia.
