‘Talked about Iran’: Trump spoke about his conversation with Putin

United States President Donald Trump commented on his conversation with Vladimir Putin on his social network Truth Social on 14 June.

“President Putin called this morning to very kindly wish me a happy birthday (Trump turned 79 on 14 June – ed.), but more importantly to talk about Iran, a country he knows very well,” he said.

According to Trump, much less time was devoted to the topic of Russia’s war against Ukraine during the conversation, but “that will be next week”.

The US president mentioned the prisoner exchanges that are ongoing between Ukraine and Russia. According to him, the conversation lasted about an hour.

“He (Putin – ed.) believes, as I do, that this war between Israel and Iran must end, to which I explained that his war must also end,” Trump added.

Earlier on Saturday, the Kremlin said Putin and Trump had another conversation, specifying that it lasted about 50 minutes.

The last time Putin and Trump spoke by phone was on 4 June. Iran’s nuclear programme was discussed even then, but the main topic was the war in Ukraine. Trump then called the conversation “good, but not one that will lead to immediate peace.”
