The number of base stations of new generation 5G communication networks in China exceeded 4.39 million by the end of March, the Ministry of Industry and Informatisation reported.
The level of 5G coverage in the country reached 75.9%, Xinhua news agency quoted the ministry as saying.
China’s infrastructure in this area continues to improve, ministry spokesman Xie Shaofen said at a press conference on Friday. Digital technologies, particularly 5G and artificial intelligence models, are developing rapidly, he said.
In January-February, revenue of companies operating in the digital industry added 8.2 per cent year-on-year, he said.
