Kremlin reacts to Trump’s statement on Ukraine-Russia agreement

The Kremlin said it was open to the search for a peaceful settlement of the war.

“President Putin, the Russian side remain open to the search for a peaceful settlement, continue to work with the American side as well. And, of course, we hope that this work will yield results,” said the speaker of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

This is how he commented on US President Donald Trump’s statement on the End of War Agreement this week.

US President Donald Trump expressed hope that Ukraine and Russia will conclude an agreement next week. He also added that after that, both countries will “start doing big business with the United States, which is prosperous, and make a fortune.”

On 17 April, talks involving Ukraine, the United States, France, Britain and Germany on ending Russia’s war in Ukraine were held in Paris. The next round of talks is scheduled for this week in London. After that meeting, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the administration could suspend its negotiating efforts if there is no progress on key issues over the next few weeks.

Then, on 19 April, the Kremlin abruptly released a statement from Russian President Vladimir Putin announcing an “Easter truce.” However, Ukraine and Russia exchanged accusations of its violation.

The Kremlin already said in the evening of 20 April that Putin had not given a command to extend the “Easter truce” after midnight on 21 April.
