Pakistan’s Information Ministry said the strike targeted military installations and militant support infrastructure in Kabul and Nangarhar province and not deliberately targeted civilians.
“Technical support infrastructure and ammunition depots at two locations in Kabul were virtually destroyed,” Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar wrote on social media X.
“Visible secondary detonations after the strikes clearly indicate the presence of large ammunition depots,” he added.
It is not yet possible to verify the claims of both sides from independent sources.
The strike sharply escalates tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, between which there are regular cross-border clashes.
