An explosion has occurred at the Elastik gunpowder plant in Russia’s Ryazan Region, social media reports say.
Russian telegram channel Baza points out that the explosion, tentatively, occurred due to safety violations in the shop where gunpowder is produced.
Local authorities do not report an explosion at the Elastik gunpowder plant, while the operational headquarters of the Ryazan region writes about a fire at one of the production workshops. At the same time, the Ministry of Emergency Situations writes that 70 specialists and 28 units of equipment are involved to eliminate the fire.
According to the Ministry, five people died, the number of injured is specified.
The plant, as of 2021, produces rockets for rocket artillery, various types of aviation weapons and gas generators for submarines.
According to local media, the fire in the shop occurred around 10: 30 am, the operational services are working on the site. As a result of the explosion, the building of the gunpowder shop was completely destroyed.
