There will be no column of military equipment at the parade in Moscow for Russia’s Victory Day holiday on 9 May, the Russian Defence Ministry has said.
According to the ministry, only a foot part will be held on Red Square with the participation of servicemen from higher military schools of all types and separate branches of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. At the same time, it is reported that there will be an aviation part of the parade – in particular, it is planned to fly Su-25 attack aircraft.
The Russian Defence Ministry notes that due to the “current operational situation” cadets of military schools and the column of military equipment will not be at the military parade.
At the same time, the Russian ministry says that the parade broadcast will demonstrate “the work of the Armed Forces servicemen of all types and branches of troops performing tasks in the zone of the special military operation” – as Russia calls the war against Ukraine.
Last year’s May 9 parade in Moscow, according to Russian media, featured 183 pieces of military equipment – tanks, APCs, BMPs, Iskander missile systems and Yars intercontinental missiles.
At that time, a convoy of unmanned troops was also presented for the first time; among the drones presented were Orlan, Zala, Lancet, Harpy and Geranium, which Russia is actively using for strikes against Ukraine.
